The bag length is 4.5 inches, about an inch wide and 5.25 inches tall. The fringe hangs about 3 inches below the bottom.
Sheathe is about 8 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide and less than half an inch wide.
Made by Oglala Artist K. Young
Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
