Beautifully dyed porcupine quills wrapped on rawhide, finished with plated earring hooks.
The bigger heart is just under 1.25 inches wide and just over 1.25 tall. The smaller hearts are just under an inch wide and tall. Combined height is 2.25 inches tall
Quillwork is one of the many traditional art forms of the Lakota people. There is a lot of time and work that goes into quillwork. The quills are removed from a porcupine, then are cleaned, dyed, soaked until pliable and woven or sewn into designs unique to every family or tribe. Quillwork is not water resilient and should be well taken care of.
